Sea Pines Tower Beach

Midway through the year, real estate sales on Hilton Head Island are having a fairly good year when compared to this juncture last year. The general mood of the market is upbeat and positive. All price points and all types of properties are selling and those that are new, or renovated like new, are finding the most attention with buyers.

Island-wide, home sales have increased 19.4 percent while the median sales price has gained only 1.9 percent. Villa sales are doing better with an increase in closed transactions of 10 percent and the median sales price increasing by 12.3 percent, from $216,450 to $243,000.

Home sales in Sea Pines increased by 10.5 percent but median sales price has been nearly flat with a 1.1 percent gain. Coming on the…

Mobility - some us take it for granted. Having grown up with a sister 5 years older that relied on a wheelchair or someone carrying her, I am really excited to announce a CSA - Sea Pines service!!

CSA has purchased an all-terrain wheelchair equipped with heavy duty wheels making it easier to travel through the sand. It is now available to Sea Pines Property owners to use at Tower Beach (exclusively for Sea Pines Property owners and their guests).

LoggerheadonJune112018

There is a new mania on the island! I walk my dog Cashew every morning on the beaches of Sea Pines for the past 7 years. Tourists get excited about coming here and we residents get excited about the sea turtles nesting. This morning we caught a glimpse of a mom laying her eggs and caught her going back into the ocean. See photo below. According to www.seaturtle.org/nestdb/?view_beach=73 which is Hilton Head, we currently have 57 loggerhead nests, 27 false crawls and 1 green turtle nest. They have had to relocate 17 nests so far and 41 are "In Situ", which I suppose mean they remain where she buried them.

The Coastal Discovery Museum will introduce a new program in June Through August every THURSDAY at 1 p.m. Sea turtles live an extraordinary life.…

David Love's photo of tagged alligator in Sea Pines

Sea Pines has volunteered to be in a first-of-its-kind alligator research and study program that's being conducted by Clemson University, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Nemours Wildlife Foundation of Yemassee. They're looking into how alligators behave in residential communities.

Alligators are apex predators and play a crucial role in fostering a healthy ecosystem. They can grow to over 13 feet in length, weigh up to a half-ton and live as long as humans. They are highly intelligent creatures. When the weather warms up in spring, and love is in the air, males begin roaming about and fighting for territory. By May, the males are bellowing out deep grunts while agitating the water with their backs. It's an impressive sound…

This upcoming weekend is Mother's Day on May 13th. A lot of children come visit their aging parents residing on Hilton Head Island. That is NOT the day to have mom cook so going out to eat lunch or dinner will be a treat for mom. Do try and make reservations.

Below a few options to try:

Sea Pines Beach Club - offers exceptional service and dining, as well as breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean

Fraser's Tavern - located in the former Live Oak restaurant in the plantation Golf Club.

Links, An American Grill - located within the Harbour Town Golf Links and overlooks the putting green and the approach on hole #9.

Any of the above are a good start to treat mom. Call me for more information or google for address and phone number. And don't…

Baynard Mausoleum on Hilton Head Island

Work is under way to restore the Baynard Mausoleum and Zion Cemetery.  Nestled under a canopy of old oak trees where Mathews Drive and William Hilton Parkway (highway 278) meet is the oldest surviving structure on the island and now a designated listing in the National Register of Historic Places.

Built around 1845 by William E. Baynard, one of the island’s wealthiest cotton planters, the mausoleum served the needs of the dead, but an inscription on its wall urged the survivors to live with “integrity and uprightness.”  Four years after the completion Baynard died at the age of 45 and both he and his wife were interred in the building.

The Zion Chapel of Ease Historic Site was the location of the plantation owners’ first church built on the…

great egret with breeding plumage

What a wonderful experience it was purchasing our Sea Pines home with David and Kathy Love! From the minute we met them, we clicked and we knew we would make a great team.

We thoroughly enjoyed learning all about Sea Pines and the surrounding areas from both of them and they took the time to listen to us to fully understand what we were looking for in a home.  We had to work long distance from Colorado and were on a multi year plan to buy our future retirement home.

David and Kathy made the process really easy in assisting us with checking out houses, sending pictures and videos to narrow our search.  Not only did they find us the absolute perfect home which met all our requirements and more, they were invaluable in helping us throughout…
